The PowerShot SX210 IS is Canon’s most compact superzoom camera to date, offering some powerful features in a slim and stylish body.

While it’s slightly larger than the IXUS range of compact digital cameras, the Canon PowerShot SX210 IS is also significantly more powerful and versatile, thanks to the 14-megapixel resolution and 28mm-equivalent wide-angle lens with 14x zoom. What all that means is that you can get closer to whatever you’re shooting without needing a large professional lens – much better if portability is an issue.

And then there is the versatility factor. If you need the PowerShot SX210 IS to function as a fully automatic point-and-shoot camera, it can do that in the camera’s smart auto mode. But if you want full manual control, there is plenty of options for you, too – including control of shutter speed, apertures and focus. You can also set sharpness and contrast, as well as colour saturation and flash strength.

Image quality is very, very good – particularly when you consider the sub-$600 price tag. The main performance issue for this camera is speed. If you’re planning on shooting a lot of fast-paced action such as sports, you’ll probably want to look elsewhere.

Rounding out the package is high-definition (HD) movie recording at 1280×720 resolution. Even better, Canon has equipped the PowerShot SX210 IS with a mini-HDMI port, so you can connect it straight to a high-def TV to play back your footage.

If you’re anything like me, your wardrobe will have the tendency to get itself into a right old mess without regular attention.

I have written about Maiden Voyage eelskin wallets before but truth be told I haven’t done anything about it since then.

If you’re considering buying a new flatscreen television, chances are you’re weighing up between an LCD TV and a plasma TV. Hopefully this guide to buying an LCD TV can help.

LCD TV technology

LCD TVs consist of liquid crystal cells spread between the two thin glass panels of the television plus a lamp behind the screen. TFTs supply electricity to the cells, which allows the crystals to twist and filter white light from the lamp. This twisting action prevents burn-in or ghosting on-screen, which is often seen with plasma TVs. LCD TVs render colour by blocking certain wavelengths from the white light.

The higher the voltage of the light used in the LCD TV, the more effectively the cells are able to filter the light. Hence higher voltages are required to produce very rich blacks and brilliant whites. This is measured by something called a contrast ratio. The higher the contrast ratio, the better blacks and whites will appear on-screen.

LCD TV screen size and space considerations

LCD TVs are generally available in smaller sizes than plasma TVs, given that it’s hard to produce a quality larger screen using liquid crystals. While this is improving, a general rule of thumb is to consider LCD TVs for screens under 50-inches and plasma TVs for those over 50-inches.

You should also consider the space in which you’re going to be installing your new TV. Bigger is not always better, especially in a smaller space. A large television can overwhelm its surroundings and can be uncomfortable to watch if you don’t have to room to sit at an appropriate distance.

LCD TVs have also been hampered by narrower viewing angles in the past, so if your living room viewing area extends out to the sides, viewers sitting closer to the side may have trouble viewing.

LCD TV response time

Another figure you will see quoted in your quest for a new LCD TV is response time, measured in milliseconds (ms). A lower response time is considered better as a higher response time will cause fast-moving images to blur slightly.

LCD TV and HDTV

Just because you see the term “HD” or “high-definition” used somewhere in connection with an LCD TV, it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re getting full high-definition. To be sure of what you’re getting, check the native resolution of the screen, which refers to the number of pixels that can fit on the screen. True HD is defined as 1920×1080 pixels, which also appears as 1080p and Full HD. However other resolutions are also classified as being high-definition, including 1366×768 and 120×720 (also known as 720p).

To the untrained eye, these lower forms of high-definition won’t prove much different to view than Full HD screens. And don’t forget, there’s no point having a high-definition TV unless you have a high-definition source to feed it, such as a Blu-ray player or HD broadcast.

Frankly there are literally hundreds of bags I could see myself with this spring, but sometimes you know, you get looking and everything feels the same—the same colours, same materials…so, what’s really got my attention this season are the most wild, the colourful, the odd, the bags that pop!

Louis Vuitton Cheche Gypsy Bag

I’m really into the new Cheche Monogram. On this Gypsy bag (sort of an exaggerated version of the Noe from a few years back) it looks just lovely. The black and grey textile look brings the point of the bag right home–casual luxury…it’s what I think is the strongest thing about the Spring 2010 Louis Vuitton line. The soft leather trim, the colourful sac liner and dogtag, the multiple, practical ways to carry it…oh and it’s totally eccentric!

Chanel Flower Basket Tote

This is my just-for-fun addition to the list. After all I think it’s exactly what Lagerfeld had in mind—give us a shocker to catch our attention, and then once we’re all incredulous enough, whack us with a really beautiful spring collection. Well, he got me!

While tons of people are going to be wearing Alexander Mcqueen this season (and rightfully so. Before his tragic passing he was at the peak of his craft and made some truly beautiful bags specifically), a lot of others are going to be wearing Chanel. I’d say more than any designer Chanel produced just such a gorgeous collection for this spring.

LV Kalahari GM Monogram

I just love the audacity of the Louis Vuitton Raindrop Besace handbags. If this one isn’t bold enough, try it in trash bag green! Some people are calling this a “utilitarian” bag, which on one level (it’s designed for the spring rain) is apt, but seriously…this is an eye-catcher through and through. It’s all about sassy style if you ask me.

Gucci Crocodile Skin Jungle Tote

And suddenly I’m a seductress! Hard to find something sexier this spring than Gucci’s new crocodile skin handbags. For one of the first times in recent memory Gucci’s right on top of the sex appeal this season. Alligator skin is right on for me—as long as it looks like the Jungle tote. And the colourful Alligator clutches from Gucci are even saucier.

Fendi Multi-color

I’ve heard some negative criticism of this recent Fendi look, but right now I can’t think of anything better as a colour saviour for spring. It’s overall just a casual Hobo bag with a soft, slouchy feel. It’s light, it’s playful and a little bit odd…perfect as an eccentric look for those first warm—if rainy, days of spring.

Remixed Tano Bag

Remember that beautiful mystery bag I spotted months ago? We were able to find out it was made by Tano and it was just beautiful. I hesitated buying it and still haven’t decided if that was a mistake or no.

Well I spotted on Frosting Fashions a new version of this bag, Remix, that is even better then the original. Described as a “Mega-tote” this version is in ginger and bronze colored leather with a purple interior.

Am I being given a second chance with this bag? Is it a sign?

Beubag.com is a site that a lot of my readers have been asking about and 1 or 2 have told me is worth trying. At first I thought it was really cheap until I realized all the prices were in pounds. Now every time I go back to the site I go through the same confusion. I don’t know I guess it’s not really fair but shouldn’t the default be USD? Anyway on with the review…

1.Quality:

I bought the Alexander Mcqueen Glove clutch in black. I have never seen this bag on a replica site so I got pretty excited. I was pretty happy with the result. The stitching was good and the leather was soft. On the negative side the leather is a bit shinier than the real thing especially on the glove itself. The interior is also different; take a look:

Overall though, I am not disappointed.

2. Selection

I was happy to find the glove Clutch that I have had in the back of my mind for some time but that seems to be all the Alexander Mcqueen stuff they have. I also noticed there is not really any luggage. This site is a mall basically which at first scared me because I thought they didn’t seem to have many bags, but they do have a decent selection, as well as quite a few other accessories (sunglasses, belts, scarves etc.)

3. Shipping

My bag arrived in 9 days –not bad That’s faster than most sites, so a definite plus.

4. Return Policy

This is where they really annoyed me. First of all it doesn’t look like it is possible to get a refund at all which I find outrageous. The reason is this. I usually keep bags like this one that are a little off. The only time I ever return anything is when the workmanship is so bad and the materials are so substandard my only other choice would be to give it to my niece to play dress up with. So granted I didn’t want to return this product but what if it had been terrible? I really don’t want to pay all that shipping cost to get another crappy bag. I would rather have a refund. Plus they charge you 3 way shipping and a pretty hefty restocking fee so basically you better be really sure before you buy.

5. Site usability

Well, let’s be honest, the design is pretty crappy looking, but in terms of usability it’s actually okay. I mean I wish that the search box was more obvious and that the Artsy bag was in the right place so I could find it but otherwise not bad. The prices are displayed in pounds, which as I mentioned can be confusing for those of us used to seeing USD. There are plenty of features and options, as well as a lot of menus (maybe too many features?). Small complaints really, it’s quite nice and offers a lot of search options.

6. Original Images

I believe so. I mean I hope so, because if they went to the trouble of putting those giant watermarks on them, (that nearly block out the actual bag) they better be their own pics! I trust this site as far as that goes.

7. Service

It took some doing to get any response out of them at first. I emailed and waited a day, I kept waiting for the live chat to come online, and finally I called. After the second call I got someone.

My Humble Conclusion

It is lucky that the pictures are original and the product quality is pretty good or this site would be really bad. I didn’t like the return policy and the service was so-so. But I guess what really matters is the quality so I am giving this site my thumbs up.
